a DEFRA Countryside Stewardship Scheme. The hedge in
the backgound was planted about 10 years ago & is establishing
nicely.

Our Farm extends to about 2,200 acres in the Bamburgh / Belford
area, most of it rented. We think it is a beautiful & diverse
landscape: we crop around 1,140 acres and we graze (mainly under
bird-friendly Countryside Stewardship arrangements) about 865
acres with sheep and beef cattle.

In addition the area supports 122 acres of mature deciduous woodland
with a further 33 acres of trees planted over the last 10 years,
mainly in small pockets. We have 29km of mature (nearly all thorn)
hedges, with a further 4,900 metres planted over the last 10 years.
We also maintain nearly 19km of (mainly traditional drystone)
walling. The farm boundaries contain an incredible 21 km of watercourses
from ditches to rivers capable of supporting large sea trout,
and not surprisingly is therefore home to a considerable and increasing
population of otter. The farm is crossed by 9km of public footpaths
and bridleways.
